The City of Hillsboro uses a system called CodeRED to quickly send out emergency alerts. These alerts help keep you informed about serious situations like:

• Tornado warnings

• Severe storms

• Water outages

• Other safety emergencies
  
  

How It Works

CodeRED sends alerts based on your location. It can call just one household, a few blocks, or the entire city, depending on the emergency. When you receive a call, you’ll hear a recorded message. If your line is busy, CodeRED will try up to three times.

Choose How You Want to Be Notified

When you sign up, you can choose how to get alerts:

• Phone calls

• Text messages

• Emails

• Or any combination that works best for you
  
  

Why It’s Important to Sign Up

The CodeRED system only includes listed landline numbers by default. If you use a cell phone, have an unlisted number, or are a new resident, you must register your number to get alerts.

You can also add more than one phone number or email so your whole household stays informed. TDD/TTY users can register as well.
