Code Red Alerts
Stay Informed with CodeRED Alerts
The City of Hillsboro uses a system called CodeRED to quickly alert residents about emergencies. These alerts can include:
-
Severe weather (like tornado warnings or thunderstorms)
-
Water outages
-
Other public safety dangers
How It Works:
CodeRED sends out alerts based on your location. It can notify one street, a neighborhood, or the entire city—whatever is needed for the situation.
You can choose to receive alerts by phone call, text message, email, or any combination of those options. The system uses a recorded message to share important details, and if your line is busy, it will try calling up to three times.
Who’s Included:
Most listed landline numbers in Hillsboro and the surrounding area (ETJ) are already in the system.
If your number is unlisted, or if you use a cell phone, VOIP, or TTY/TDD device, you'll need to sign up online to receive alerts.

Why It Matters:
In an emergency, fast information can help you stay safe. CodeRED makes sure the City can reach you when it matters most.
