The City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City of Hillsboro and is responsible for conducting all city elections as prescribed by the Election Code of the State of Texas. Elections are conducted annually on the Uniform Election Day in May (the first Saturday in May). Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be a U. S. citizen. 
  • Have not been determined mentally incapacitated by a final judgment of a court. 
  • Have not been finally convicted of a felony, or if so convicted have fully discharged his/her sentence, or been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability. 
  • Have resided in the State of Texas and City of Hillsboro for 12 months. 
  • Have resided in the District for six months immediately preceding the date the appointment is made. 
  • Qualified voter of the State of Texas and City for 12 months immediately preceding the date appointment is made.
