The Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee's primary duties involve advising and assisting in the development, update, and implementation of a city's comprehensive plan. This includes analyzing existing conditions, developing goals and objectives, and recommending strategies for future growth and development. The committee also serves as a liaison between the city staff, consultants, and the community, ensuring that the plan reflects community needs and concerns.  More specific duties are as Follows:

• Developing and Updating the Comprehensive Plan:
• Analyzing Existing Conditions:  The committee helps assess the city's current state, including land use patterns, transportation infrastructure, and natural resources.
• Developing Vision and Goals:  They contribute to shaping the city's vision for the future and establishing long-term goals and objectives.
• Recommending Strategies and Actions:  The committee proposes strategies and actions to achieve the city's goals, such as land use regulations, infrastructure investments, and community development initiatives.
• Reviewing and Updating the Plan:  They regularly review the plan's progress, make recommendations for updates, and ensure it remains relevant and effective.
• Engaging the Community:
• Gathering Input:  The committee seeks feedback from residents, businesses, and other stakeholders throughout the planning process.
• Advocating for the Plan:  They act as advocates for the comprehensive plan within the community, promoting public understanding and support.
• Communicating Plan Progress:  They communicate the plan's development and implementation to the community through various channels, such as public meetings, open houses, and online resources.
• Working with City Staff and Consultants:
• Collaborating on the Plan:  The committee works closely with city staff and planning consultants to develop and implement the comprehensive plan.
• Providing Feedback and Recommendations: They provide constructive feedback and recommendations on the plan's development, ensuring it aligns with the city's goals and community needs.
• Ensuring Alignment with other Plans: They help ensure that the comprehensive plan is aligned with other city plans, such as zoning regulations and capital improvement plans.
• Attending and Participating in Meetings
• The CPAC is anticipated to have approximately 6 meetings over the 18-month Comprehensive Planning Process.
• Meetings will be scheduled in coordination with members’ and consultants’ availability.
