The Zoning Board of Adjustment hears and decides special exceptions to the terms of the City’s Zoning Ordinance; and to authorize in specific cases such variance from the terms of the Zoning Ordinance if the variance is not contrary to the public interest, and, due to special conditions, a literal enforcement of the provisions of ordinance would result in unnecessary hardship, and so that the spirit of the Ordinance shall be observed and substantial justice done. The Board may reverse or affirm, in whole or in part, or modify the Community Development Director’s order requirement, decision or determination of which an appeal is taken and make the correct order, requirement, decision, or determination, and for that purpose the board has the same authority as the Community Development Director; to hear and decide appeals when it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an Community Development Director in the enforcement of Zoning Ordinance O2007-01-01. The Zoning Board of Adjustment meets as needed on the second Thursday of the month.
